PUTRAJAYA, April 18 (Bernama) — The four-day 5G Malaysia Showcase kicked off on Thursday at the Putrajaya Corporation Complex, with a total of eleven exhibitors.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today launched the 5G Malaysia Showcase.
Dr Mahathir took a ride in a 5G-connected self-driving car from the Palace of Justice.
Also in the 5G-connected Proton Extra cart with the prime minister was Communications and Multimedia Minister, Gobind Singh Deo.
The 5G autonomous car was developed by Ericsson and Celcom and in partnership with eMooVit.
The multi-purpose vehicle is fitted with an array of cameras, radar and LIDAR sensors.
The 5G Malaysia Showcase is an important platform for Malaysia to explore the potential of 5G and it is a preview to the public on 5G benefits to their lives.
The real-life applications showcased include self-driving cars, drones for various digital mapping and monitoring, holoportation, immersive education, precision farming, and real-time e-sports.
Also among the focus are remote healthcare diagnoses and consultation, robots, smart Internet of things (IoT), smart manufacturing and virtual reality classroom.
The 5G Malaysia Showcase is open to the public from 10am to 6pm from April 20-21
