The Shah Alam High Court has sentenced 21 years in prison and 20 lashes against a former accounting student at a private college after pleading guilty to two counts of possessing almost half a kilogramme of drugs two years ago.

Muhammad Amir Faisal Maarof, aged 23, however, will only be serving a prison sentence of 11 years after judge Datuk Zulkifli Bakar ordered the sentence to run concurrently with the custody date having been taken into account.

Amir had committed the offence on February 28, 2016, near the Sekolah Agama Rakyat Al Hidayat in Bangi.
